First, CONGRTATS!!!!!! :) I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes, i just want to right a story that I forced it out

Thanks!!!!!

I feel like when I start writing sometimes it is forced, but then I slowly get into the rhythm of it again. I keep going (even when forced) because many authors have suggested that we can’t just give up because we don’t feel like writing… It’s good to see a fellow writer on here with similar issues when it comes to writing! :P

Day 55: 57, 033 Words

Thanks guys for the responses to my question!

I know that a lot of writers have said that one cannot write without being well-read, but I can’t help but feel guilty sometimes because I’m scared to give up on this story, like I’ve done with others in the past.

It’s a scary feeling!

And to the person who wrote about getting writer’s block from over-thinking if I write too much, you’re right.

I’ve gotten to the point where I’m questioning everything I’m writing and I am writing little notes in my notebook under *FOR WHEN EDITING*. It’s incredible how many things I’ve missed because I’ve been so focused on just getting the story down.

Thanks everyone for being awesome!

Happy reading/writing!

Is it a writing sin to have missed one day of writing in order to be lazy and just read?

That’s what I did yesterday and I almost contemplated it again tonight, but after writing this I will try to write something.

How many of you believe in the “I need a little break from writing” excuse?

Took a bit of a Tumblr hiatus and read two books (finally)

A Midsummer’s Nightmare, Kody Keplinger

Keep Holding On, Susane Colasanti

I’ve been taking so long trying to read The Fellowship of the Ring that I slacked on my goal, so thankfully now I’ve read 2 books in a day in a half, and it feels awesome! I’ll probably read a few more before finishing J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel!

Happy reading!

Book Haul :)

1. A Midsummer’s Nightmare, Kody Keplinger

Whitley Johnson’s dream summer with her divorcé dad has turned into a nightmare. She’s just met his new fiancée and her kids. The fiancée’s son? Whitley’s one-night stand from graduation night. Just freakin’ great.

Worse, she totally doesn’t fit in with her dad’s perfect new country-club family. So Whitley acts out. She parties. Hard. So hard she doesn’t even notice the good things right under her nose: a sweet little future stepsister who is just about the only person she’s ever liked, a best friend (even though Whitley swears she doesn’t “do” friends), and a smoking-hot guy who isn’t her stepbrother…at least, not yet. It will take all three of them to help Whitley get through her anger and begin to put the pieces of her family together.

Filled with authenticity and raw emotion, Whitley is Kody Keplinger’s most compelling character to date: a cynical Holden Caulfield-esque girl you will wholly care about.”

2. Unraveling, Elizabeth Norris

Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she’s opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn’t possible, Janelle knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.

But her reincarnation, and Ben’s possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI-agent father’s files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what’s right in front of her: Everything that’s happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben’s sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she’s going to need to uncover Ben’s secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.

From debut author Elizabeth Norris comes this shattering novel of one girl’s fight to save herself, her world, and the one boy she never saw coming.”

3. Keep Holding On, Susane Colasanti

Noelle’s life is all about survival.

Even her best friend doesn’t know how much she gets bullied, or the ways her mom neglects her. Noelle’s kept so much about her life a secret for so long that when her longtime crush Julian Porter starts paying attention to her, she’s terrified. Surely it’s safer to stay hidden than to risk the pain of a broken heart. But when the antagonism of her classmates takes a dramatic turn, Noelle realizes it’s time to stand up for herself—and for the love that keeps her holding on.”

4. A Confusion of Princes, Garth Nix

A grand adventure that spans galaxies and lifetimes, A Confusion of Princes is a page-turning thriller, a tender romance, and a powerful exploration of what it means to be human. includes exclusive bonus Garth Nix short story ‘Master Haddad’s Holiday’.

I have died three times, and three times been reborn, though I am not yet twenty in the old earth years by which it is still the fashion to measure time. This is the story of my three deaths, and my life between. My name is Khemri.

Taken from his parents as a child and equipped with biological and technological improvements, Khemri is now an enhanced human being, trained and prepared for the glory of becoming a Prince of the Empire. Not to mention the ultimate glory: should he die, and be deemed worthy, he will be reborn…Which is just as well, because no sooner has Prince Khemri graduated to full Princehood than he learns the terrible truth behind the Empire: there are ten million princes, and all of them want each other dead.”

5. Avalon: Web of Magic Omnibus: books 1-3, Rachel Roberts

Three very different young teens, Emily, the shy one, Adriane, the outsider, and Kara, the power shopper, are all drawn to a secret place deep in the woods where they discover a portal to another world. Wondrous animals have emerged from the portal, desperately seeking the magic that will keep them alive. Though the animals are peaceful and good, what follows them through the portal is twisted and evil and bent on destroying them all.

The Fairimentals have chosen these three fourteen-year-olds to protect the magical animals. To save them and their world, the girls must overcome their differences and band together. They begin a perilous quest to discover Avalon, the lost, legendary home of magic, little knowing the terrible dangers they will face along the way.”

6. Dark Kiss, Michelle Rowen

I don’t do dangerous.  Smart, über-careful, ordinary Samantha-that’s me. But I just couldn’t pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me…something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It’s like part of me is missing-and I don’t know if I can get it back.

Then there’s Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he’s keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he’s what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me….”
